Lately Matcha Kit Kat bars seem to be everywhere on the internet. They've developed a cult following made up of snack lovers and matcha enthusiasts alike, but I've never had the pleasure of sampling one myself. Up until recently these tasty morsels have proven themselves to be rather illusive, at least in my neck of the woods. Fortunately for me I caught sight of them at the Midwest Tea Festival, nestled amongst a half-dozen other tea related treats.
I debated for all of two seconds about picking up a bag before I decided to cross my fingers and hope they wouldn't melt before I made it home. The good news is that they made it back to Wisconsin relatively unscathed, so all I had to do was resist chowing down on the entire bag while I took a few photos for today's post. As I snapped away I happily munched on any broken bars I came across and before I knew it the entire bag was gone.
I'm still not quite sure how that happened. I remember looking around the table in my studio that was littered with empty wrappers, wondering how I had managed to eat the entire bag, by myself, in under ten minutes. These should probably come with a warning because they're the most addictive candy bar I've ever had. Each bite packs in a ton of green tea flavor without masking the white chocolate, leaving you with a candy bar that's the perfect combination of sweet, crunchy, and savory—or umami as the Japanese like to refer to it. It's no wonder the internet has fallen in love with these, they're absolutely perfect! I only wish I had the foresight to pick up a second bag.
