Back about a billion years ago (really it was only 8, it just seems like forever ago) my husband got what amounted to his dream job, so he pulled up stakes and moved to Wisconsin. We weren't married at the time and I was still in school, so we ended up doing the long distance relationship thing again, only this time it was 6 hours between us and not 2. I spent a lot of time on the road that year traveling between Missouri and Wisconsin, but it gave me an opportunity to job hunt and get to know the city I'd be moving to. While he was at work I'd sit in a little café around the corner, sipping on tea and working on my thesis, which was how I eventually discovered today's tea—White Tea Rose Mélange from Rishi Tea.
I had been slowly working my way through the entire menu at the café when I stumbled across this tea, after that it was all I ordered. It's a blend of white and jasmine green teas with rose, peppermint, and a hint of lavender—in other words, all of the things I love all rolled into one. Knowing that, it shouldn't surprise you in the least when I say this is one of my all-time favorite teas. If I were stranded on an island with only one tea for the rest of my life, this would be it (although Zen Tea's Earl Grey Cream would be a close second.) There are a number of rose and lavender teas that remind me of potpourri, they're absolutely cloying, but the flavors in this blend are delicately balanced and don't overpower each other. Each sip yields a gentle layering of flavors, first the peppermint, followed by rose, then the faintest hints of lavender and jasmine—it's absolutely exquisite.
Would I order this again? Absolutely! If you're a fan of rose, mint, or lavender I'd highly recommend this tea, it's a truly delightful blend.
