This Earl Grey tea blend is fit for royalty with the fruity addition of bilberries and the floral notes of lavender, jasmine and chamomile but it is the lovely purple of its sweet mallow flowers that gives this tea its proper name.

It's so secret that Earl Grey is one of my all time favorite blends (I've written about it a number of times during Tuesday Tea.) So when I saw that Herbal Alchemy had a blend that combines Earl Grey with lavender, jasmine, and chamomile I knew I wanted to try it out. I'm always on the look out for new twists on an old favorite and this one just so happens to be a combination of flavors I love.
What I didn't expect was for the steeped tea to be such a rich purple color. Although, in hindsight the name Royal Purple Tea should have tipped me off (purple is the color of royalty after all.) The flavor ended up being just as vibrant as the color, with a deep fruity flavor from the bilberry and hints of lavender, jasmine, and most strongly, chamomile. There was very little flavor from the Earl Grey, although this wasn't surprising since there was very little in the blend to begin with. All-in-all I really enjoyed this unique take on the classic Earl Grey.
My Rating: 84/100
Would I order this again? Yes. An Earl Grey tea that won't keep me up at night, of course I'd order that again!
