Today we're going to continue looking at some of the vendors that will be at The Midwest Tea Festival coming up on June 6th. Instead of talking about tea, today I wanted to show you a product that has been on my radar for a while, Smart Soak Tea Stain Dissolver from Mandala Tea.
Every time I've complained on Steepster about how hard it is to remove scents and stains from my ingenuiTEA and Mason Jar Drinking Mugs I've been told that Smart Soak Tea Stain Dissolver is the product I need. The people who told me this weren't kidding about how well it worked and I wish I hadn't wasted so much time scrubbing everything down with baking soda and a baby bottle brush. That method may work, but it is anything but efficient.
For my first round of cleaning I decided to tackle my Mason Jar Drinking Mugs. If you take a peek at the photo above, you'll see what they look like after two weeks of only being rinsed out after use. Pretty gross looking, aren't they? I filled them up with boiling water, put in a teaspoon and a half of Smart Soak and let them sit for 10 minutes.
Almost immediately the water started to bubble and the tea stains lifted away, forming a dark ring at the top of the mug. The before and after results were amazing, my glasses look brand new. I haven't seen them look this good since I purchased them last summer.
At this point I was already suitable impressed, but the real test would be how well it cleaned my ingenuiTEA. It may be one of my favorite pieces of teaware, but it is an absolute bear to clean because it has so many parts. I decided to clean the main portion the using the same method I used for my mugs. I filled the steeper with boiling water and a teaspoon of Smart Soak, then left it to sit for 10 minutes.
The bottom portion of the steeper posed more of a problem, it needed to be soaked, but I kept getting an air bubble trapped inside, so it wasn't completely submerged. I gave up trying to clean it this way and instead filled the main portion of the ingenuiTEA with hot water, added another teaspoon of smart soak, and let the water drain out into my glass pitcher. I used the same water over and over again until 10 minutes was up. This was surprisingly effective at cleaning the bottom of the ingenuiTEA and as an added bonus, it cleaned my tea pitcher too.
If you look at the photos above, you'll see a huge difference. Most of the tea stains were removed, those that were left were under the plunger and were nearly impossible to reach. I think that a second round of cleaning may have removed more of the stains, but I only had a teaspoon of Smart Soak left and still had the lids for my Mason Jar Drinking Mugs to clean.
Overall, I was suitably impressed with Smart Soak Tea Stain Dissolver from Mandala Tea. I was skeptical at first, but it cleaned everything that I threw at it. I didn't have to scrub a thing, saving me a tremendous amount of time. Now I understand why so many people recommended this product to me.
And now for the good news: if you've purchased a VIP admission to The Midwest Tea Festival a sample of Smart Soak will be included in the VIP bags.
My Rating: 100/100
Would I order this again? Absolutely. I'll be keeping this on hand, it does a fabulous job at cleaning even the most stubborn stains.
