Today I decided to play hooky from writing, I hope you'll forgive me, but I couldn't help myself! We've had such unseasonably warm weather this year, coupled with a ton of rain, so on our first beautiful sunny day I packed up my little guy and went on a trip—to the mall (doh!) Yes, I spent most of my day off visiting Santa, getting photos taken, and holiday shopping instead of out enjoying the sunshine (which makes total sense to me, I really hate hauling around packages in the rain.) At least it was warm enough to ride around town with the sunroof open and the windows down, so it was almost like we were outside.
Before I left the house this morning I decided I needed a thermos full of holiday cheer to get me through the day, although since I'd be driving I knew I couldn't have the real thing—I tend to lace my eggnog with a good dose of brandy. Instead I settled for some eggnog pound cake tea from A Quarter to Tea.
I've been hearing a lot about this shop lately and with good reason too, their decadent sounding teas are absolutely delicious. I picked up their chocolate lover's sampler as well as a few holiday blends during their Black Friday sale and have been happily sipping on them since they arrived. This blend in particular hits all of the right notes for me. The White Peony tea used as a base adds a delicate baked flavor and gives the tea a slightly creamy mouthfeel. There are hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, and the sprinkles add just enough sweetness to pull everything together. The overall flavor reminds me of the eggnog I buy every year from Sassy Cow, one of our local dairies. I think A Quarter to Tea really hit the mark with this one, I can't wait to dig in to the rest of the blends I purchased.
My Rating: 92/100
Would I order this again? Absolutely. This is such a fun twist on my favorite holiday beverage!
The only thing that could possibly make a winter-y cup of eggnog better is to bake it into a cake. Or a pound cake in this case! White peony tea works as the base for this creamy, cake-y tea accented with a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon.
All orders come in resealable packaging and include a reusable muslin cotton tea bag.
