Taurus - Strawberry and cream
Rooibos means ‘red bush' in Afrikaans. Rooibos infusion from South Africa provides a deliciously light drink. It is caffeine-free and contains numerous health-promoting ingredients. It can be enjoyed throughout the day and is a perfect beverage in the evening. Rooibos can be served with milk and sugar, depending on your preferences. Served as iced tea, it is absolutely delicious!

I would like to thank Laurent and Sophie from Nina's Paris for providing me with this sample, as well as samples of Assam and Lapsang Souchong, which I will be posting mini-reviews of on Steepster sometime this week. Before I get into my review of the tea I wanted to tell you a little bit about the company.
Nina's has a long, distinguished history which began in 1672 when Pierre Diaz created “La Distillerie Frères”. They became well known for their art of creating fragrances and were the first in the country to distill lavender essential oils. Pierre Diaz, who was also known as “the Magician of Aromas,” supplied the Court of Versailles and well known figures King Louis XIV and Marie-Antoinette. Nina's has risen beyond it's beginnings as a distillery of fragrances and currently offers a wonderful line of teas flavored with pure essential oils. While Nina's has always been located next to La Palace Vendome in the heart of Paris, they are in the process of crossing the pond and will have locations in the US, Canada, and South America. If you would like to be notified when their new locations open you can email them and be placed on the mailing list.
Taurus, the second sign of the Zodiac, just happens to be my sign so I was excited to try this blend, even if I'm not a fan of rooibos. It must be the bull in me, but I keep trying to like it, and since Taureans are noted for their determination I know that I'll eventually find a few rooibos blends that I really enjoy.
Now that I've admitted yet again to my dislike of rooibos, I'll get on with the actual review.
This tea is very smoothly flavored with just a hint of cream. The rooibos comes through strongly and it isn't until the tea starts to cool that I can taste the strawberry. Even then, the strawberry remains more of a background note and I wish it were the star. I loved the sweet, yet tart flavor it gave the blend. Strawberry is a really hard flavor to nail, it always winds up tasting artificial to me, and I'm happy to say that this is a great example of a strawberry and cream tea.
I wish I had a larger sample to try, I can see this making an excellent iced tea when sweetened with a little simple syrup to bring out the strawberry flavor a little more.
My Rating: 79/100
Would I order this again? Probably not, I'm not a fan of strong flavored rooibos blends. However, I am excited to try some more of their blends, especially their award winning Marie-Antoinette tea, which is flavored with apples from the King’s kitchen Garden in Versailles. How cool is that?
In an effort to be open with my readers I want to let you know that this sample was provided to me free of charge by Nina's Paris USA for my review. As always, all opinions are my own. If you are a company and would like to send me an item for review feel free to drop me an email.
