A dessert without any of the calories’ is how one of our customers describes this tea. This has become one of our most popular teas. A green tea with a smooth coconut flavor and a subtle undertone of roasted almonds. Add to this the antioxidant benefits from the green and you have a winner. If you like this tea you might want to try Snowflake, another one of our dessert teas, which has a black tea base.

In honor of the first Tuesday Tea post I thought I would start with a new favorite of mine.
I love almond cookies, in fact, I make them every year at Christmas to send to relatives and they get rave reviews. When I opened the bag I was immediately hooked, this tea smells just like an almond cookie. The almond comes through immediately, as does the sencha, but the sencha remains in the background where it should be in this blend. The coconut rasps brings a nice sweetness to the mix giving it a creamy, almost buttery flavor.
The second steep lost some of the almond scent (but not the flavor), that didn't make it any less delicious. I did try my second steep sweetened, but it really didn’t need it, in fact that made this too sweet.
I have several almond cookie teas in my stash, all of which are black, but this one made me realize what was missing the entire time with those others. The base should have been green, it just works so much better and doesn’t compete with the almond flavor. With a green base the almond really gets a chance to shine making this one of my new favorite teas.
This was my first time ordering from Georgia Tea Company, but I see many more orders in the future. My only complaint was that the tea was not packaged with long term storage in mind. I immediately had to repackage my tea in tins once I received it, because inside the paper bag is a sealed plastic bag containing the tea. I would like to have at least had a bag that I could reseal to retain freshness.
Would I order this again? Absolutely! This is my new favorite almond tea.
