This weekend my husband and I are going to be heading down to St. Louis, Missouri to help a friend of ours celebrate his 30th birthday properly. By properly I mean we're going to go see a STL Blues (hockey) game and have dinner at the Schlafly Tap Room. I can't think of a better way to celebrate turning 30, it's going to be a blast. Personally, I can't wait to catch up with friends I don't get to see very often and have some actual adult conversation. The latter can be hard to come by when you have a toddler, most of my day is spent talking gibberish and going to play-dates with other toddlers who also talk gibberish. That is, unless I'm in the kitchen coming up with tasty food for you to enjoy.
Being that we live in Wisconsin and the weather up here this time of year can be unpredictable, we've decided to leave a few hours earlier than expected. Unfortunately, that means I won't have time to make the last few tweaks to the recipe I had planned on posting on Friday. I've been sick with the stomach flu this week, otherwise I wouldn't have waited until the last minute. What can I say, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and there is always one more thing I want to tweak. Being sick just threw off my whole schedule and this "just one more little tweak" thing is a bit of a sickness really... I'll try to be better about it in the following year. Please forgive me!
Hmmm... that sounded suspiciously like a New Year's resolution. That could mean that it is doomed to fail, we'll just have to wait and see, won't we?
I won't be leaving you without something to read, since I'll be in St. Louis I thought I would do a Tea Places review. I haven't done one of those since I went to Minneapolis in October for my 5th wedding anniversary and stopped by the Verdant Tea Bar and Tasting Room. This time I'll be reviewing St. Louis Bubble Tea in Creve Coeur, Missouri (a suburb of St. Louis for those of you who are unfamiliar with the area.) I've always thought that STL Bubble Tea was a really fun place to visit and despite the run down condition of the building, it really is a hidden gem.
For now I'll leave you with a brief preview of the yummy treats they serve up. That is a photo of their almond milk tea with boba. Looks delicious, doesn't it?
And now I'm heading off to bed a little bit early (for me anyway), tomorrow is going to be a day full of fun things like doing laundry and packing. Make sure you check back on Friday for the review and I'll do my best to have the food post up early next week once I've recovered from a 13 hour round trip car ride with a toddler.
